Mt. Shasta Clouds The unusual cloud formation over MT SHASTA is by name Kelvin-Hemholtz Wave . This type of cloud is created by high velocity, opposing, wind sheers at high elevations and is not often viewed except by pilots and meteorologists and even then rarely. For this cloud formation to have formed in full view over Mt Shasta is another "mystery of the mountain".
